Although Wales is its own country (just like England), it’s also part of the United Kingdom which can be confusing when it comes to immigration rules. So, do you need a visa to visit Wales?

Wales shares a visa and immigration system with the rest of the United Kingdom, therefore the same visa rules apply to Wales, England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Citizens of the UK, EU, USA, and many commonwealth countries do not need a visa to visit Wales for up to 6 months.

Wales is part of the United Kingdom along with England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. All four countries share a common visa and immigration system therefore the same rules apply.

No, you do not need a visa to visit Wales from England because of the Common Travel Area (CTA) which is an agreement between England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, and Ireland that allows citizens of those countries to move freely between them.

When you first arrive in the UK, you will need some form of ID such as a passport, driving licence, or ID card to prove your nationality. After this, you can move freely between these countries.
