Wales has more than its fair share of pick-your-own pumpkin patches, both big and small, across the country offering some family fun and instagram-worthy photos.
I’ve put together this comprehensive guide listing all of the best places to go pumpkin picking in Wales in 2023. I’ll continue to update the article throughout October as more details emerge.

1. Pembrokeshire Pumpkins
Pembrokeshire Pumpkin Farm, Moylegrove, Pembrokeshire, SA43 3PF
Pembrokeshire Pumpkins is about 15 minutes drive south of Cardigan in West Wales.
They also have other attractions at the farm for Halloween including the woodland play area with spooky hay bales and the pumpkin barn with Halloween surprises.
Open every weekend from 30th Sept and throughout October, the daily 25th - 30th October. Pick your own pumpkin hours are from 10.30am to 5.30pm. The cost is £8 per car plus you’ll pay for the pumpkins you pick. Book tickets online to secure a space here.
2. Forage Farm Shop
Penllyn Estate, Llwynhelig, Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, CF71 7FF
Forage Farm Shop have over 20 different types of pumpkin you can pick. Plus, lots of other activities including a maze, pumpkin catapult, hay bale tower, pumpkin carriage, and you can see their animals including alpacas, piglets and pigmy goats.
Open every day from 14th - 30th October, you can visit Forage Farm Shop for a fun pumpkin-picking experience. The cost is £8.50 per car which includes all activities except the pumpkin catapult (£2) or face painting (£5).
They also run after-dark pumpkin picking on the 20th, 21st, 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th October. This costs £5 per person and includes lots of scary evening activities. You can also roast marshmallows on their fire for an extra charge.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
3. Gower Fresh
Poundffald Farm, Three Crosses, Swansea, SA4 3PB
Gower Fresh is back with pick-your-own pumpkins from 4th - 27th October, entrance is free, you just pay for what you pick. Pumpkin picking runs from 11am until 7pm thanks to floodlights.
However, from 28-30th October, there is a charge of £5 per car (up to 4 people) to enter the farm which will also let you attend the Roly Poly Scary Fun Party. Over these 4 days, there are other activities taking place too including Pumpkin Carving (£5 per person) and The Mad Scientist Farm Lab Interactive Show (£9.95 per person).
4. Vale Pick Your Own
Greenland Farm, Bonvilston CF5 6TQ
Vale Pick Your Own is located about 5 minutes’ drive from Cowbridge in South Wales and has over 20 varieties of pumpkins to choose from. They also have an onsite café serving pumpkin-spiced lattes and cakes.
Daytime picking will be midday to 4.30pm every Saturday and Sunday throughout October (starting from 7th) as well as on the 30th and 31st.
They are also running twilight picking for that extra spookiness. This will run on Friday and Saturday nights throughout October as well as every day between 26th - 30th. Slots are available to book between 6-8pm.
The cost is £6 per car for daytime picking and £9 per car for twilight picking. Of course, pumpkins are charged extra.

5. Powell's Farms
Powells Farm Wales, New Radnor, Presteigne LD8 2TW
Powell's Farm has a pumpkin patch in the heart of Powys, Mid Wales.
They also have Halloween-themed games and activities and you may even encounter piglets, pygmy goats and newborn lambs. There are plenty of photo opportunities, a Cinderella carriage, and the giant pumpkin letters on the way up to the ancient Tomen Castle.
Pumpkin picking is open every weekend during October (starting from 7th) as well as on Monday 30th. The cost is £12 per car which includes up to 7 people for a 1 hour session.

6. Billy Bob’s Pumpkin Patch
Billy Bob's Farm, Castle Farm, Llangybi, NP15 1NJ
Billy Bob’s is more than your regular old pumpkin patch. As well as PYO pumpkins, there’s also a spooky maze filled with photo opportunities, a scarecrow trail with clues, face painting, pumpkin carving, meet the animals, and more.
It’s open every Saturday and Sunday during October as well as the 30th and 31st. There is a charge of £10 per car (up to 4 people), you need to book in advance and choose a one-hour time slot. Tickets can be bought online here.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
7. Manorafan Farm Park
Manorafan Farm Park, Llanddulas, Abergele LL22 8ET
Manorafan Farm Park are running Pumpkin Fest with pumpkin picking and carving, trick-or-treat shows, and a slime lab. Plus, all of the usual park activities will also be open where you can meet the animals, enjoy play areas, and more.
The ticket costs £14.95 for adults and £16.95 for children which includes full entry to Manorafan Farm Park where there will be scarecrows and other creepy characters roaming freely.
Pumpkin Fest will be running on 21st – 22nd and 28th– 31st October. Find details about the daytime event here.
They are also running Pumkin Fest Nights with a spooky Halloween Trail, a monster shooting range, fire shows, live entertainment, and more. Plus the pumpkin patch will be illuminated for twilight picking and carving.
The night ticket costs £9.95 for adults and children, but doesn’t include the main park attractions as these will be closed in the evening. Pumpkin Fest Nights will be running on 20th– 21st and 26th – 30th October. Find more information about the evening events here.
8. Copper & Holly
Pontybat Farm, Llanfilo, Brecon, Powys, LD3 0PA
Copper & Holly welcome visitors to their farm near Brecon for pumpkin picking between 14th and 29th October 2023. There is no entrance fee or parking charge, just pay for what you pick.
Opening times vary by day as follows:
- Monday: 11am - 7pm
- Tuesday – Friday: 11am - 6:30pm
- Saturday: 11am - 5:30pm
- Sundays: 11am - 4.30pm
Pumpkins vary from £1 up to £15 for the largest ones. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
They are also planning late-night picking and movie nights but details have not yet been announced, check this information page for updates.
9. Pencoed Fach Farm, Blackwood
Pencoed Fach Farm, Bedwellty, Blackwood, NP12 0BQ
Pencoed Farm’s Pumpkin Patch is open 10am-4pm on weekends from 30th September and then every day from 14th - 31st October (if the pumpkin supply lasts that long).
The entry cost is £6 per car as well as the cost of the pumpkins you pick which can range from £1 up to £15 for extra large ones. You need to book a slot ahead of time on the booking site here.
The onsite kitchen will also be serving woodfired pizzas every day the pumpkin patch is open. Well-behaved dogs are allowed on leads.
10. Twighlight Pumpkins
Maindiff Court Farm, Abergavenny, NP7 8AY
Twighlight Pumpkins near Abergavenny is back in 2023 with two pumpkin patches and plenty of scarecrows. Pumpkin picking is open 10am-5pm every weekend in October (starting on the 7th) as well as 30th and 31st.
They have pumpkins of all sizes as well as a children's maize trail, coffee and doughnuts.
The cost is £3 per group (up to 5 people by car or foot). Booking is not essential but can be done here. Dogs are not allowed.
11. Pwmpenni Pendre Pumpkins
Plas Farm, Caerfyrddin, SA33 5DB
Plas Farm will open Pwmpenni Pendre Pumpkins picking near Carmarthen again in 2023. They will be open every weekend from 7th October as well as on 30th and 31st.
Picking times will be 10.30am until 4pm. They will be helping to support Uned Myrddin.
12. Tycoch Farm
Tycoch Farm, Pyle, Porthcawl, CF33 4RR
Tycoch Farm near Porthcawl has 10 acres of pumpkins including 20 different varieties. You can come and pick your own on the following dates: 7th - 8th, 14th - 15th, and 20th - 31st October.
The pumpkin patch will be open 9.30am-4pm and no bookings are required.
Access to the site is free, simply pay for what you pick with pumpkin prices starting at £1. Dogs are not allowed for health and hygiene reasons.
13. Sennybridge Pumpkins, Brecon
Sennybridge Pumpkins near Brecon will be open on 14th -15th, 21st - 22nd, and 28th - 31st October.
There is no charge for entry and there will be coffee and treats available.
After a success last year, they will again be running the #findthegoldenpumpkin challenge.
14. Hootons Homegrown Farm Shop
Hootons Homegrown Farm Shop will be open for pumpkin picking every weekend 10am - 5pm from 7th October and then daily from 23rd.
There is no entrance charge and there will be onsite coffee provided by locamôn. Dogs are welcome.
Hootons have also announced that from 30th Oct – 3rd Nov, you can join them for Halloween lantern crafting and a spooky Halloween VR ride.
This runs from 9am - 11:30am and is suitable for children age 3+ costing £10 per child. Book online here.
15. Foel Farm Park
Foel Farm Park will have some spooky activities from 21st October until 5th November including pumpkin picking, a maize maze, scavenger hunts, and spooky drawing competitions.
To take part in Halloween activities, you will still need to purchase a regular park entry ticket which costs £9.50 for adults and £8.25 for children (pumpkins are an extra charge).
Of course, you'll then get a full of fun things to do including meeting animals, tractor rides, farm tours, and more.
You can book ahead online to secure the prices I mentioned above or pay on the door but you'll pay a little extra.
16. Bellis Brothers Farmshop
Bellis Brothers Farm Shop near Wrexham is open weekends from 7th October then daily from 21st until 31st October.
Entrance is free with pumpkins starting at £2, however, online booking is essential, you can get a ticket (one per vehicle) here.
They will also have a spooky maze (£2 per person) and craft sessions from 10am-4pm at weekends. Craft sessions should also be booked in advance.
17. Windsor Farm Pumpkin Patch Pembroke
Windsor Farm Pumpkin Patch will be opening 10am - 4pm on 7th - 8th October with additional dates to follow.
There is no entry charge and booking isn't required, simply turn up and get picking. They will have onsite refreshments from Emburs Desert bar and local produce from Pembrokeshire Coast Honey.

18. Swans Farm Shop
Swans Farm Shop in North Wales is open daily for PYO pumpkins from 6th October to 29th October (except Monday and Tuesday).
There is no entry charge and booking is not required, just pay for your pumpkins which start at £2.
Expected Pumpkin Patches in 2023 [Not Yet Announced]

Hawarden Estate Farm Shop

However, they have announced a Children's Halloween Party during the day on 29th October and a Nos Galan Gaeaf evening event for adults on 28th October.
Porth Farm Caersws
Unfortunately, Porth Farm issued a sad statement that they won't have any pumpkins this year due to a difficult growing season. Stay tuned for 2024. In the meantime, the closest pumpkin patch in Powys is Powells Farm.
