Stroll through the heart of Cardiff on this self-guided audio tour. You’ll see the capital’s most famous landmarks including the castle, stadium, and city hall. You’ll also learn about Cardiff’s history and some of the key characters that built the city into a bustling capital.
How Do AudioWalks Work? First download the Wales Guidebook: AudioWalks app for Apple or Android. From here, you can purchase the Cardiff City Centre AudioWalk.
The tours are GPS-enabled. To start the tour, simply visit the start point, pop in your earphones and hit ‘Start Tour’. Your guide will give you full directions, but there’s also an onscreen map if you’d prefer to use that.
All of our tours are created and narrated by locals who are passionate about sharing their country with visitors.
The tour begins outside the main entrance to Cardiff Castle. You can get directions to the start point here.
On the tour, you’ll visit the following landmarks:

- The Principality Stadium
- St Mary’s Street
- Cardiff Market
- The National Museum Cardiff
- Cardiff City Hall

You’ll hear about the beginnings of the city, why the River Taff was moved, what happened to St Mary’s Church, and we’ll touch on some stories about capital punishment in Cardiff.
Note: This tour goes down the Millennium Walkway which runs past the Principality Stadium. This is open between 10am-5pm, although may be closed if there are gigs or sports matches on at the stadium. When the walkway is closed, you can divert down the opposite side of the River Taff.

You’ll need to download the Wales Guidebook app to access the tour. Remember to bring headphones so that you don’t annoy people around you and ensure you have adequate battery in your device.

You can begin your AudioWalk whenever you like, that’s the beauty of a self-guided tour. It’s also possible to pause the tour if you want to explore the area around you.
Can I use my tour on more than one device?
No, once you have activated a tour on your device, it can only be used on this device. However, we do encourage you to share the tour with friends and family. You can do this by sharing a pair of headphones or taking the tour using your phone's speaker (ensuring not to disturb others around you).
Is the tour suitable for dogs?
Yes, everywhere we visit on the Cardiff City Centre AudioWalk is dog-friendly.
Is the tour suitable for wheelchairs or prams?
Yes, the Cardiff City Centre AudioWalk is suitable for wheelchairs and prams.
Is the tour suitable for rainy days?
No, we wouldn’t advise you take the tour on a rainy day as it’s an entirely outdoor tour. You can always pause the tour and complete it later or on another day if the weather takes a turn for the worse.
